I began my advertising career in London during the 1970s, at a small boutique agency in Knightsbridge, alongside the former Beatles photographer John Kelly and Noel Myers previously of Benton & Bowles. While working on various campaigns, I also had—unbeknownst to me—the task of making coffee for John and Noel; I was the youngest, after all. Later, Bastable Advertising offered me the position of Junior Art Director. Before accepting, I only asked if the agency had a coffee machine; they said yes, and I signed on. I continued my journey across several other agencies, working on both national and international products. At the age of 29, I left London for Italy to accept a job offer from Mario Labella at Longari Loman in Bologna/Milan (the former Managing Director of Coca-Cola). He was an almost obsessive strategist, and thanks to him, I learned an immense amount about Creative Strategic Planning. I had the good fortune to collaborate with legendary directors, such as Sergio Leone, who directed my television commercial for J&B Whiskey featuring a soundtrack by Ennio Morricone. I also had Gabriele Salvatores direct my campaign for Snaidero kitchens, alongside other prominent directors. Later came an offer from Ammirati Puris Lintas, which gave me the opportunity to work for national and international brands across Milan, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Brussels. I remained at Lintas for a long period, seeing the agency through three different management transitions. In 1996, I began my career as a freelance consultant, offering my expertise to both agencies and direct clients. In 2006, I left Milan to return home to the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in Northeast Italy, shifting my focus beyond pure advertising. At this stage, I choose my projects as carefully as I choose my words. I’m not looking for work; I’m looking for a good product.
